Black-winged Stilt

Recurvirostridae: Himantopus himantopus

Stilts live mainly in freshwater, and eat crustaceans and insects. The Black-winged Stilt is 38cm tall.

The large bird is a White Stork; the small bird is a Stilt

There are many stilts in this mixed group at Lake Nakuru.

Depending on the season and sex, some populations of Stilts show varying amounts of black on the head.
