Black Crake

Rallidae: Amaurornis flavirostris

This is the most common rail of the eighteen species found in Kenya. It is omnivorous, feeding on aquatic invertebrates, fish, frogs, seeds, bird eggs, insects and carrion. We saw it on the Terek River in the Maasai Mara.
