Pied Crow

Corvidae: Corvus albus (Pied Crow)

Corvidae: Corvus capensis (Cape Rook)

The Pied Crow was common in Nairobi, but we did not see it elsewhere. It is about 45cm in length, and an omnivore and scavenger.

Cape Rook

This bird was seen at the roadside north of Maasai Mara in the direction of Nakuru. The pictures were taken from a moving van, and it is possible that the size was misjudged and that the identification is mistaken. The Cape Rook (aka Black Crow) is about 48cm.The bill shape and leg form don't look right for the alternative Drongo or Black Flycatcher.
