Grey Crowned Crane

Gruidae: Balearica regulorum gibbericeps

This magnificent bird is about 1m tall and weighs around 3.5kg. Unlike almost all cranes, it has a strong hind toe which enables it to roost in trees. It eats seeds and insects. It is very common, away from the coast.
