Great White Pelican

Pelecanidae: Pelecanus onocrotalus

The Pelican is about 165cm in height, with a wingspan of 2.8 metres. They eat fish, crustaceans, and amphibians.

These birds are on Lake Nakuru. The pelican usually breeds on Lake Elmenteita. We didn't see any of the smaller Pink-backed Pelican species.

In Amboseli, we saw pelicans on an island in the swamp, which they shared with hippos and Egyptian geese.
