Verreaux's Eagle (aka African Black Eagle)

Accipitridae: Aquila verreauxii

Verreaux's Eagle is a resident in Africa, where it hunts the Hyrax, a mainly nocturnal primitive mammal about the size of a small dog. The eagle is about 80cm in length.

The white markings on the wings and lower back are distinctive, as are the upturned wing tips in flight.
