Wagtails

Motacillidae: Motacilla agiump vidua (African Pied Wagtail)

Motacillidae: Motacilla flava (Yellow Wagtail)

The African Pied Wagtail (20cm) is the resident black and white wagtail.  The pattern around the eye and shoulder is distinctive. The Yellow Wagtail (16cm) is a winter visitor from the north. The yellow throat tells us that it's a male. There are several races of this bird in Kenya. This seems to be the flava race, which is the most common, indicated by the eyebrow and the slight darkening on the throat and shoulder.
