Books 6: Kenya - Customs and Politics

We looked at two books about Kenya as a country. Both of these can provide information from the point of view of a Kenyan. 'Kenya, Identity of a Nation' by Godfrey Mwakikagikle, and 'Culture and Customs of Kenya' by Neal Sobania provide insights into the way Kenyan people see themselves, and information about the relations between people in the country which was not available elsewhere. They are both unifying 'Kenya is one country' books, rather than 'Kenya is a country of many peoples who do not necessarily get along' books. But the information and viewpoint they provide are different from those provided in standard guidebooks.
