Amboseli National Park 1/4
Amboseli National Park gets little rain, as it is in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro. However, in compensation, there are underground streams carrying water from the slopes of Kilimanjaro which bubble up in the park, producing 'swamps' and small lakes. There is an Observation Hill, offering an overview. The part of the park called 'Lake Amboseli', though, refers to an ancient lake bed, which is usually dust, but which can be covered with water after very heavy rains. There are several lodges and camps in and around the park. The Serena Lodge, where we stayed is marked. The lodge was extremely comfortable, with a lot of green, vervet monkeys, and many birds.
