Cheetahs were seen on several occasions, both in Amboseli, and in Maasai Mara. Nonetheless, the Cheetah, though widespread, is endangered everywhere. Estimates for the numbers in the whole continent range from 5,000 to 15,000. In the Serengeti, which adjoins the Masai Mara to the south, it is said that 95% of Cheetahs do not reach adulthood. One major reason is predation on the young Cheetahs by Lions. Cheetahs avoid areas with Lions if they can.
