Common Eland
The Eland is a very large animal, the male weighing up to 900kg and 1.70m at the shoulder, and the female, 450kg. (Despite its name, the other species, the Giant Eland, is about the same size). Their diet is broad, though they mainly browse. Able to survive for a long time without water, it is one of the most widespread antelope species. These were seen in the Maasai Mara. The beautiful horns, and the dewlap with beard under the chin are noticeable.
