Slender Mongoose

The Slender, or Black-tailed Mongoose was seen searching for prey at the Maasai Mara lodge. it weighs about 500-600g, and the tail is about 25 to 33cm, attached to a body of 28 to 40cm. It eats insects, lizards and reptiles, and anything else it can find, as well as fruit sometimes. There are at least 14 species of savannah mongoose in Africa, and among them the Slender Mongoose is very common.
